Color Swarms

Color Swarms represents a grouping of such  and in the case of this show it represents the  grouping of colors. This body of work  showcases my exploration of color and how  it pertains to the subject matter, texture,  composition, and overall rhythm of each  painting. Color is such an integral part of our  existence and it is just as integral when it  comes to the process of creating a painting.  The incorporation of new colors into this  new body of work is an important aspect of  this show, as it represents growth as an artist.  I see colors as emotions and the emotions  that I feel are captured in each character in  each piece. These characters and their color  swarms are messages from the subconscious mind and I am hoping  that the work from this show offers some sort  of unexpected journey for the viewer.

MEET THE ARTIST

Canadian-born artist Ramona Nordal began her art exploration at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia. Here she studied under internationally renowned Canadian artist Dennis Burton and focused on colour theory, anatomy drawing and painting.

Her ambitious use of colour and symbolic figures create an overwhelming sense of energy in her work. Nordal thrives on deliberately mixing past and present cultural influences in her work and the end result is both captivating and refreshing. The subjects in Nordal’s paintings are reminiscent of times past with an edgy modern flare.
