David Starr

New Show Opening on Saturday February 3rd, 2013!

"Liger" features the work of David F. Starr, including large oil paintings, a series of 12 sequential prints
and the release of the accompanying art book "Liger". The work, depict the story of Zebratavi,
a zebra centaur boy, and the creation of his arch-nemesis, Liger. These careful graphite drawings with
digital color display a vibrancy, cuteness, hyper violence, humor and pathos that you often find
when watching a wild life documentary. But, the beauty and craftsmanship allow you to
delve deeply into the story between each print as it comes to you in waves.

"Liger is an encapsulation of animal, especially big cat, documentaries which I feel put life in an interesting perspective.
Its about playfulness, violence, death, a mother's love & her drive that keeps species alive," Starr says.

David F. Starr, born September 11, 1981, is a painter and multimedia artist,
who's work dives into myth, science, cuteness, violence, and relationships.
He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in multimedia art in December 2004
at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Starr lives and works in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
